This position is hired under the Operations department and carries a dual mandate. From day one through terminal handover, you will be fully dedicated to electrical commissioning activities, embedded alongside the Projects team to bring all systems online safely and on schedule.
Once commissioning is complete and the terminal transitions to full operations, you will shift into your permanent role as Electrical Lead for the Operations team — building and leading the maintenance crew responsible for keeping all electrical systems running at a bulk cement import terminal.
Role Progression Phase 1 — Commissioning (Projects embedded)- Fully dedicated to terminal electrical commissioning
- Embedded with Projects team through handover
- Megger testing of large motors and HV equipment
- I/O signal verification and loop checkout
- MCC, switch gear, and panel energization
- Motor bump tests and rotation checks
- Punch list management and turnover packages
- Coordinate with vendors and OEM reps on-site
- Lead the terminal electrical maintenance team
- Build and manage preventive maintenance programs
- Own reliability of all electrical systems and assets
- Develop and mentor maintenance technicians
- Manage electrical work orders and scheduling
- Drive continuous improvement and uptime targets
- Liaise with operations on equipment availability
- Support future capital projects and modifications
- Lead electrical commissioning activities from first energization through handover
- Perform megger testing on large motors and high-voltage equipment
- Verify and validate I/O signals between field devices and control systems
- Troubleshoot electrical faults, wiring discrepancies, and equipment issues
- Energize MCC lineups, switch gear, and distribution panels per startup sequence
- Interface with PLC/DCS technicians on controls loop checkout
- Transition into Operations Electrical Lead post-handover
- Build, lead, and develop the terminal electrical maintenance team
- Establish and own preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Manage electrical maintenance scheduling and work order execution
- Maintain compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and site safety standards
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license (state or equivalent)
- 7+ years electrical experience in an industrial plant or terminal environment
- Hands‑on PLC experience — Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar
- Demonstrated experience with megger testing of large motors (up to 4160V+)
- Proficiency in signal verification, loop checks, and field calibration
- Strong working knowledge of motor controls, VFDs, and MCC equipment
- Ability to read electrical schematics, one‑lines, and P&IDs
- Prior commissioning experience on industrial or terminal projects preferred
- Experience building or leading a maintenance team preferred
- Familiarity with NFPA 70, 70E, and NEC standards
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- SCADA/HMI systems
- 4160V medium voltage systems
- Heat tracing systems
- Class I Div 1/2 hazardous areas
- Fluke / Megger test equipment
- CMMS software (SAP / Maximo)
- Fiber / network cabling
