Mechanical Engineer - HVAC Design (Entry-Level)
Job Description
This Mechanical Engineer role focuses on supporting HVAC engineering projects from concept through construction documentation. You will assist with HVAC system design, perform basic calculations and load analysis under supervision, and help ensure projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards. Working closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the development of scopes, drawings, and submittals for HVAC systems and equipment upgrades while building a strong foundation in commercial HVAC design.
Responsibilities
+ Support HVAC engineering projects by assisting with design development, redlines, and preparation of construction documents.
+ Perform basic engineering calculations, equipment selection, and load analysis under the guidance of experienced engineers.
+ Assist in ensuring projects are completed on schedule and meet established quality and performance standards.
+ Collaborate with experienced engineers and project teams to support effective project execution.
+ Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather and clarify project requirements.
+ Contribute to the preparation of scopes of work, drawings, and submittals for HVAC systems and equipment upgrades.
+ Help review drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
+ Maintain organized project documentation and assist with tracking project progress and deliverables.
+ Stay current with industry standards, codes, and emerging HVAC technologies to support continuous improvement.
+ Communicate clearly with team members to resolve issues, share updates, and support collaborative problem-solving.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
+ Entry-level experience or up to 1 year of experience in the commercial HVAC space.
+ Strong understanding of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
+ Foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering principles related to HVAC design.
+ Ability to perform basic calculations, equipment selection, and load analysis under supervision.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
+ Demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to take initiative in a professional setting.
+ Excellent organization, time management, and multitasking capabilities.
+ Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and contribute to overall project performance.

Skills & Qualifications
+ AutoCAD and/or Revit experience preferred for HVAC design and documentation.
+ Experience or coursework related to commercial HVAC systems and equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $38.46/hr.
