Storm Duty RequirementsTampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co‑op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.
PositionSummary / Details
This co‑op position offers a unique opportunity for college degree-seeking students to engage in a multifaceted role centered around network device testing and engineering design. The selected student will actively participate in the evaluation and testing of network devices and utilize their engineering skills to contribute to the design process.
Accountabilities- Network Device Testing: Conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of network devices, ensuring they meet performance and reliability standards. This includes hardware and software testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Engineering Design Support: Collaborate with the engineering team to contribute to the design and development of new network devices or improvements to existing ones. This may involve prototyping and technical documentation.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of testing procedures, results, and design modifications. Produce technical documentation to support product development and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborative Contribution: Actively engage in team discussions, sharing insights and ideas to enhance network device performance and engineering design processes.

Preferred Availability: Part – Time (20-30 hours)
Working ConditionsMostly in a normal office environment, a successful candidate will visit the field on average once a month. This may include riding in a company vehicle on‑road and off‑road, walking on uneven surfaces, and entering substations.
QualificationsEducation: The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post‑secondary educational program in a related discipline.
