Construction Utility Coordinator – Central Florida
This role coordinates utility relocation activities with utility companies, contractors, and project teams for transportation system projects in Central Florida.
Responsibilities- Coordinate utility relocation activities with utility companies, contractors, and project teams to minimize conflicts and delays.
- Review and analyze utility plans, specifications, and agreements to ensure compliance with project requirements and regulations.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor utility relocation progress and identify potential issues or conflicts.
- Facilitate communication between utility companies, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve conflicts and maintain project timelines.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of utility coordination activities, including meeting minutes and correspondence.
- Assist in development and implementation of utility relocation strategies to minimize project impacts and costs.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on utility coordination activities to project management and stakeholders.
- Under general supervision, perform routine duties related to utility coordination and relocation.
- Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications.
- Apply sound professional judgment on details of work and utility-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding utility relocations.
- Collaborate with design teams to incorporate utility considerations into project plans and specifications.
- Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management; prior construction experience is preferred.
- Alternatively, high school graduate or equivalent with at least four years of construction or utility experience.
- 0–4 years of experience performing utility coordination in accordance with Florida DOT standards.
- Capability to exercise independent initiative under supervisor guidance.
- Knowledge of Florida Department of Transportation Standards, policies, procedures, and agreements, and proficiency in necessary computer programs.
- Competence in preparing and updating spreadsheets, compliance documentation, and processing permits.
- Proficiency with PDF Acrobat Pro and Bluebeam.
- Ability to learn One Stop Permitting (OSP) and Electronic Review Comments (ERC) for FDOT.
- Ability to interpret survey data from the field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- FDOT Advanced MOT (may be obtained within six months of hire with supervision).
