The TECO Energy Internship & Collaborative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co‑op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.
PositionSummary
Tampa Electric is wishing to provide an opportunity for college students or recent graduates to explore career options within the field of Transmission Engineering. This includes allowing students to apply academic knowledge, skills, gain career skills, build resumes, and network with emergency management professionals.
Accountabilities- Design and develop new and existing transmission lines throughout the TECO service area.
- Participate in meetings with internal and external departments/vendors.
- Attend trainings related to engineering, safety, and leadership.
- Support the TE team when needed.

Qualifications Education and Co‑op Requirements- The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university or college undergraduate or a graduate level post‑secondary educational program in a related discipline.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
- To qualify as a co‑op student, enrollment in the university’s co‑op program is a must.
- To qualify for a substation engineering co‑op position, the candidate must have successfully completed their junior year at an ABET accredited Institution.
Required Degree: Engineering
Preferred/Related Discipline: Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering
Year in School: Junior or Senior;

Storms will be considered a condition of employment. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
