Shift: 8 hours x 5 days
Position SummaryThe TECO Energy Cooperative Education Program offers college degree‑seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. Work assignments are consistent with the needs of the department and the company, providing meaningful and challenging work. These engineering co‑op positions report to Energy Supply Engineers and support a variety of technical projects.
Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze required codes, standards, and regulations to support design efforts.
- Review engineering documents, including design drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Perform walkdowns and field engineering activities to support design and construction efforts.
- Monitor ongoing construction activities to verify conformance with design drawings.
- Big Bend Power Station, Apollo Beach, FL (main location)
- Bayside Power Station, Tampa, FL
- Polk Power Station, Mulberry, FL
Students will spend 50% of their time in power stations and service areas, requiring hands‑on work, willingness and ability to work at heights on raised walkways, and ability to work in industrial environments that may be dirty.
Preferred AvailabilityFull‑time (40 hours per week).
EducationEnrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or graduate‑level post‑secondary program in a related discipline for the first semester of the program.
Co‑Op RequirementsTo qualify, students must be enrolled in the university’s co‑op program (proof of enrollment required). If the student is not eligible for the co‑op program or the program is unavailable, the student will be considered an intern.
Required DegreeNone specified; a relevant degree program is required.
