Overview
This role involves performing safety analysis, grant applications, and producing design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. The engineer collaborates closely with the project manager to conduct research, development, calculations, and design delivery, applying engineering techniques and design criteria across a range of project sizes. Responsibilities include developing conceptual and detailed designs, identifying safety recommendations, performing safety studies, and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities- Complete assigned work within the schedule and hours provided.
- Assist in developing project specifications.
- Develop discipline‑specific engineering deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.
- Aid in coordinating and increasing productivity of project team members.
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering staff.
- Work closely with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects.
- Perform quality control reviews of discipline‑specific deliverables.
- Assist with coordination and planning of work distribution within the discipline.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or
- PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience.
- Research crash modification factors, identify safety improvements, develop safety reports, perform road safety audits, and traffic analysis.
- Develop and manage grant programs.
- Optimize work processes and drive continuous improvement.
- Progress independently the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and engineering principles.
- Manage time, forecast proactively, and communicate project development needs.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
