This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Moon landers and related products. You will work in a small, passionate team of engineers and technicians on compressors and expanders, addressing design, analysis, testing, assembly, fabrication, and part non‑conformance issues. The work has a direct impact on safe human spaceflight.

- Travel expected up to 15% of the time
- Work at significant technical depth on complex subsystems with minimal oversight as part of the Zero Boil Off Turbo machinery Team
- Apply systems engineering fundamentals across the development cycle – concept, requirements, design, analysis, validation, integration, safety, configuration management, verification, and test
- Understand and manage key Technical Performance Metrics for the system
- Support the development and execution of component and subsystem analyses and tests
- Coordinate plans for subsystem‑level verification tests and analyses
- Spearhead organization and preparation for reviews
- Ensure timely updates and communication of system‑level architecture diagrams and schematics
- Guide the team to balance rapid development with standard engineering processes
- Lead trade studies, component design/integration, first‑order analysis, test support, and supplier interface as opportunities arise
- Mentor and educate junior Blue Origin employees on systems engineering processes and methods
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar
- 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering
- Experience working on highly engineered products in a rapid development environment
- Experience with cryogenic fluids
- Understanding and passion for systems engineering principles and practices (requirements definition, traceability, functional decomposition, verification, validation, ICD creation, configuration management, SEMP)
- Participation in technical and programmatic customer interactions that require expertise
- Experience working with other project members to drive progress toward milestones
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical subject area
- 7+ years of experience in aerospace systems engineering
- Experience with turbo machinery production, qualification testing, and flight operations
- Experience with requirements development/management tools (DOORS Next Gen, JAMA, etc.)
- Previous customer‑facing roles with experience presenting to and interacting with customers
