Refurbishment Operations Technician III | D Shift

We are part of Blue Origin Operations, supporting Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance across all facilities. This role focuses on refurbishing New Glenn, a reusable human-capable orbital launch vehicle. The position requires a blend of mechanical, electrical, and safety expertise applied to complex spaceflight hardware.

Position Specific Details
  • Shift: D – Friday to Sunday, 5 PM to 5 AM
  • Location: Space Coast, FL
  • Relocation: Available
  • Potential Travel: Up to 10% for training and related activities
Responsibilities
  • Maintain spaceflight hardware and equipment.
  • Replace electrical wire harnesses and instrumentation.
  • Drill precision holes in metals and composites.
  • Perform complex mechanical assembly and fabricate components.
  • Operate crane rigging and lifting equipment.
  • Assist engineers in reviewing design concepts and providing feedback.
  • Build and operate assembly fixture tooling.
  • Follow written work instructions for complex mechanical installations.
  • Innovate and improve processes to increase operational efficiency.
  • Work a flexible schedule, supporting all shifts and overtime as required.
  • Participate in training that may last several months.
  • Apply technical expertise, leadership, and quality commitment to enhance safe human spaceflight.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Passion for our mission of enabling millions of people in space.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace, aviation, automotive, offshore operations, or related fields.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency with technical manuals and detailed work instructions.
  • Comfortable working in research and flight environments.
  • Knowledge of personal protective equipment usage.
  • Experience with aerospace fittings and seals.
  • Mechanical aptitude using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
  • Skillful use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Familiarity with hydrostatic, hydraulic, and pneumatic testing.
  • Experience installing threaded inserts and using tapping tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team collaboration and self‑starter abilities.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work in confined spaces.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Eligibility to obtain U.S. Space Force DBIDS access credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A&P license or equivalent experience in integration and test of flight systems and structures.
  • 8+ years of experience in launch vehicle, propulsion system assembly, vehicle integration, or aircraft assembly and maintenance.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts near flight‑critical hardware.
  • Experience with 3‑D measurement tools (e.g., Faro, Trackers, Verisurf).
  • Working knowledge of rocket propellants, including hydrogen peroxide, RP‑1, and cryogenics.
  • Familiarity with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings) and pressurized system safety.
  • Proficiency with 3‑D CAD tools (Pro Engineer).
