VHB's structural engineering group plays a vital role in developing and enhancing connectivity through infrastructure projects such as complex bridge and interchange designs, rehabilitation and inspection, pedestrian walkways, and transit stations. VHB is expanding in its southeastern region and is seeking a Structural Engineer to join a successful, award‑winning firm. The role focuses on model‑based bridge design of transportation projects across Florida, Georgia, and the east coast of the U.S., and includes mentoring the structural team.

• Perform structural modeling, design, and oversight for bridge and other transportation infrastructure projects
• Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, estimates and calculation packages
• Provide technical support and mentorship to structural engineering staff
• Perform quality assurance reviews of project construction documents, engineering reports, etc.
• Assist in preparation of qualification packages, proposals and/or contracts involving technical approach, costs, and scheduling
• Provide project management support
• Review fabrication drawings and provide construction plan reviews

• Self‑motivated with excellent attention to detail and quality
• Strong technical skills in bridge/structural design and critical thinking
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills
• Comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writing
• Experience leading and mentoring junior staff
• Model‑based design experience
• Project management skills

• 3-5 years of structural bridge design experience (LRFD)
• B.S. in Civil Engineering required; emphasis in Structures preferred
• EIT certification required; PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred
• Project experience with FDOT preferred
• Experience completing engineering studies, design reports, compiling contract documents, and developing contract plans in conformity with AASHTO, FDOT, local municipalities, counties, and other state DOTs
• Strong familiarity with structural engineering software such as Mathcad, AASHTOWare, FB‑Multi Pier, Midas Civil, ATLAS, STAAD Pro, LARSA 4D, MDX, SP Column, Merlin DASH, and FDOT structures design programs
• Model‑based design experience is a strong plus:
  • Bentley Open Bridge and Open Roads
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit/Infraworks/Inventor
