Office-Based | Customer-Facing Technical Role

Adams is seeking an Applications Engineer — Fluid Power & Mechanical to serve as a technical resource for our customers, sales team, and supplier partners.

This role combines applications engineering, technical sales support, product management, and customer problem solving
. You’ll work directly with manufacturers, OEM machine builders, and our sales team to develop solutions, troubleshoot applications, and support strategic growth initiatives across our mechanical and fluid power product portfolio.

What You’ll Do Applications Engineering & Customer Support
  • Support customers with application development, troubleshooting, and system optimization
  • Assist with component selection, sizing, and solution development
  • Conduct customer site visits as needed to support troubleshooting, startup, and project execution
  • Develop technical recommendations and application solutions
  • Support both manufacturing facilities and OEM machine builders
Sales Support & Opportunity Development
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for Adams’ outside sales team
  • Participate in customer discovery meetings and technical reviews
  • Support proposal development and solution design
  • Help identify opportunities for expanded solutions and engineered systems
  • Provide product and application training to internal teams
Product Management & Supplier Development

Act as the technical champion for key supplier partners including:

  • MAC Valves
  • PHD
  • IMI
  • Piab
  • 80/20

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing deep product and application expertise
  • Supporting product growth initiatives
  • Participating in supplier training and development programs
  • Monitoring industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Assisting with strategic planning and supplier relationships
Project & Sales Reviews
  • Participate in project review and sales review meetings
  • Provide technical guidance on strategic opportunities
  • Evaluate application fit, technical risk, and solution recommendations
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, suppliers, and leadership teams
Technologies You’ll Support Fluid Power & Pneumatics
  • Pneumatic valves and manifolds
  • Air preparation systems
  • Pneumatic actuators and cylinders
  • Vacuum systems
  • Fluid power assemblies
Mechanical Automation
  • End-of-arm tooling (EOAT)
  • Vacuum handling solutions
  • Mechanical and Electric motion systems
  • Aluminum framing and machine structures

What We’re Looking For
  • Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or related technical background
  • Experience with fluid power, pneumatics, machine design, automation, or related technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and cross‑functional teams
Preferred Experience
  • 3 years of experience in applications engineering, machine design, fluid power, automation, or related fields
  • Experience supporting manufacturing and OEM customers
  • Experience with pneumatic systems, vacuum applications, or mechanical automation
  • Familiarity with products from MAC, PHD, 80/20, Piab, IMI, or similar suppliers
