Join our dynamic team as a Senior Transportation Engineer in Tampa, Florida, supporting our other offices, including Orlando, with an opportunity for future growth within the organization. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our communities through sustainable and integrated project delivery. As a Senior Transportation Engineer, you will contribute to highway design, drainage design, traffic management plans, cost estimating, right‑of‑way, and layout plans.

• Serve as Project Manager/Senior Engineer for state and local clients.
• Coordinate roadway design with drainage, utilities, structures, traffic, and environmental disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Execute scope associated with project delivery for transportation design projects for all stages from Concept Development to Final Design and Construction Administration phase.
• Prepare and review models, drawings, and specifications documenting the projects under design.
• Manage work and develop and mentor junior staff, providing them with technical and professional guidance.
• Collaborate with other VHB professionals to deliver projects with an integrated thinking approach.
• Monitor project performance.
• Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss transportation design/permitting issues.
• Assist with strategy for expansion of transportation design services in Florida’s Gulf Coast.
• Be part of developing new project opportunities, preparing/managing proposal submissions, and tracking of key client work programs.
• Participate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partners.

• Substantial technical and project management experience.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of roadway geometric design principles, including horizontal/vertical alignment, superelevation, and corridor development.
• Thorough knowledge with FDOT design standards, FDM, and CADD production requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of local and state regulations governing transportation design.
• Experience with Open Roads Designer (ORD) for roadway design, modeling, and production;
  AutoCAD or Micro Station experience a plus.

• B.S. in Civil Engineering, transportation planning or similar discipline.
• 11+ years of professional transportation engineering experience, with at least 8 years of experience working in the Florida market, required.
• Current FL Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Proven success in the transportation agencies and/or state & local government market sectors.
