Overview

The Permit Coordinator is responsible for supporting utility and infrastructure projects through the coordination, preparation, and submission of permit packages. This role works closely with internal design teams, field personnel, and external agencies to ensure all permitting requirements are met accurately and efficiently. The position supports a high volume of projects across residential, commercial, and industrial developments, while maintaining compliance with local, state, and utility regulations.

This role requires a strong understanding of utility design workflows, documentation standards, and permitting processes. The Permit Coordinator will assist in progressing projects from initial design through approval and construction readiness, while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.

The position is primarily office-based but includes occasional field coordination. Field work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, humidity, rain, and uneven terrain.

Key Technical Skills
  • CAD experience
  • Utility or power distribution experience
  • Working knowledge of permitting processes and documentation
  • Understanding of electrical components and systems
  • Familiarity with circuit design and distribution layouts
  • Knowledge of conduit systems and right-of-way considerations
  • Basic understanding of field safety and work zone practices
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings and site plans
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and prepare permit application packages for utility and infrastructure projects
  • Track permit status, approvals, and timelines to ensure project milestones are met
  • Work with design teams to gather required documentation, drawings, and supporting materials
  • Communicate with municipalities, agencies, and utilities to resolve permitting requirements and comments
  • Maintain accurate records of permitting documentation and project updates
  • Support design teams by assisting with CAD updates, markups, and documentation as needed
  • Perform field data collection or validation to support permit submissions when required
  • Ensure all work aligns with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements
  • Identify potential permitting risks or delays and proactively communicate with project stakeholders
  • Attend project and safety meetings as needed
  • Support storm response efforts or other project-related needs when requested
