Water Resources Engineer focusing on stormwater planning and design, flood control, condition assessment, and water supply planning.
Key Responsibilities- Lead execution of water resources projects, including:
- Planning, modeling and design of stormwater improvements (open channels, sewer systems, detention facilities)
- Planning and design of green infrastructure and sustainable watershed measures (structural BMPs)
- Planning and design of flood mitigation improvements (dams, levees, reservoirs, pump stations)
- Erosion and sediment control planning and design (SWPPP development)
- Regulatory compliance and permitting for USACE, FEMA, other environmental permits
- Business development leadership to capture services
- Build client relationships across target geography to grow business
- Act as Project Manager for services listed above
- Interface with partners to leverage new technologies
- Provide technical mentorship to professionals
- Identify, recruit, and supervise junior professionals
- Support broader Planning business (water supply, masterplan, asset management, condition assessment)
Individual Contributor
Preferred Qualifications- 11+ years of water resources planning and design experience
- Experience developing and executing water resource projects
- Proficiency with HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, EPA/XP‑SWMM, Info Works, EFDC, CFD, ArcGIS, Cityworks, Lucity, or other CMMS systems
- Experience with regulatory requirements and procedures
- Proactive client‑facing/business development experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience
- Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screen, vehicle records)
- Active engineering registration or licensure supporting engineer of record (EOR) requirements where applicable
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after a 90‑day probation period. Majority of work is office‑based, with occasional site visits that may require navigating unpaved or natural terrain.
