The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.
PositionSummary/Details:
The student will work with Operation Engineering on distribution system protection, protection coordination, power quality, and reliability. They will investigate reliability referrals, develop action plans to remedy issues, create work requests to implement proposed solutions, and respond to customers once issues have been resolved.
Accountabilities:- Create and/or process work requests in work management software
- Estimate electrical loads for customers and determine actual or proposed field measurements.
- Model proposed designs in the appropriate software to meet customer needs and ensure all results follow respective regulatory requirements
- Produce construction prints for field construction of proposed designs
- Attend weekly work scheduling meetings
- Assist TEC Distribution Design staff as needed

Mostly in a normal office environment, a successful candidate will visit field locations approximately weekly. This will include riding in a company vehicle on-road and off-road, walking on uneven surfaces, and entering substations.
Preferred Availability:Part-Time (30 - 40 hours)
Qualifications:Education:
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university or college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in your university's co-op program is required.
