Forensic Engineer

BURBY LLC is dedicated to providing high-level solutions throughout Florida, specializing in structural & forensic engineering, litigation support, repair & restoration, and building envelope/construction consulting. We are currently seeking a talented Forensic Engineer to join our growing team. This position will play an integral role consulting on and evaluating litigated matters related to construction defect claims.

• Conduct forensic investigations to analyze and determine the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, water intrusion, roof damage, construction defects, and building envelope failures.
• Research technical publications and literature in support of evaluations, and apply engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards.
• Draft and oversee the preparation of technical reports.
• Develop scope of work for forensic inspections and testing protocols for construction defect claims.
• Attend destructive testing or repairs set by other parties. Must be comfortable working from ladders, roofs, swing stages, scaffolding, and lifts.
• Manage multiple projects and assume responsibility for project execution within given deadlines.
• Collaborate and review work with colleagues.
• Communicate with administrative staff and clients to provide project updates on a consistent basis.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required. Master’s degree preferred.
• PE License.
• General Contractor (CGC) or Roofing Contractor (CCC) license a plus.
• Experience with building envelope components.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and manage assignments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
