Essential duties include assisting application engineers in obtaining customer input and sales information, and aiding in the design or redesign of Building Automation / HVAC Control Systems. This may include assisting to develop, test and implement DDC software application programs.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in designing Building Automation/HVAC Control Systems based on project documents and produce site‑specific installation drawings, selecting controllers, sensors, and accessories.
- Assist in preparing submittal data and provide revisions for an approved submittal package.
- Assist in providing Controls or Systems databases, graphics, programming, etc. for sequences as specified by project requirements for Commercial & Industrial air conditioning systems.
- Communicate with clients and provide high levels of customer service.
- Work with customers on recommendations and best practices for their systems.
- Assist Startup Technicians in troubleshooting installation issues during startup and commissioning of building controls and systems.
- Assist in providing technical support to Project Management and Installation personnel on project sites.
- Assist in providing information and support for other contractors on project sites.
- Assist in providing input to Engineering Department and Sales staff to assist in estimation, design, installation, startup, commissioning, and training for building systems.
- Assist in maintaining standards in organization and execution of projects and materials.
- Assist in providing Service Department support on upgrades and existing installations to meet customer needs and ensure efficient operation.
- Assist in preparing as‑built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
- Report project status to company leadership and sales team regularly.
- Maintain a safe work environment on all projects.
- Promote and participate in education and training opportunities to meet company goals and business plans.
- Provide junior associates with a role model example of the company’s business and work ethic per MSI’s Mission Statement.
Education and Experience:
- Two‑year technical degree in HVAC or electronics related studies preferred; undergraduate degree in electrical or mechanical related studies is preferred.
- Other technical experience (military, on‑the‑job training, etc.) may meet the requirement as determined by management.
- Basic understanding of HVAC, control systems, and related utilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in customer service and standard office practices and procedures.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding of Commercial & Industrial air conditioning, including pumps, chillers, air handling systems, and related instrumentation selection.
- Understanding of computer operating systems, MS Office, and Visio.
- Understanding of computer networking and configuring systems on customer networks; able to troubleshoot networking issues.
- Understanding of process transmitters and signal ranges (4‑20mA, 0‑10V, 2‑10V) and proper instrument selection.
- Ability to configure and debug computer and software related problems.
- Knowledge of Automated Logic Engineering Design Suite (EDS) and Niagara AX/4 is preferred.
