The Electrical Project Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Tampa, FL. The person in this role will design, review, and implement electrical systems for automation projects, including power distribution and control panels for PLC, HMI, and motion control applications. Day-to-day work includes creating electrical drawings and documentation, coordinating with mechanical and controls engineers, and ensuring compliance with US and EU standards as well as customer specifications.
The Electrical Project Engineer will support project planning, oversee installation and commissioning, troubleshoot electrical issues, and provide technical guidance during factory and site acceptance testing. This role also involves collaborating with vendors and clients, preparing reports, and contributing to continuous improvement of design and engineering practices.
- Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering and Electricity concepts, with the ability to apply them to industrial automation projects.
- Proficiency in Electrical Design for control panels and automation systems, including schematics, layouts, and documentation.
- Knowledge of Power Systems and Power Distribution for industrial environments, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with PLC, HMI, and motion control systems (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon, Mitsubishi, OMRON) is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with US and EU electrical and safety standards, and relevant codes for industrial automation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams; proficiency with CAD tools is a plus.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work on‑site with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
