How You’ll Help Drive the Future of Natural Gas

The Gas Design Project Manager (GDPM) supports PGS distribution system construction and maintenance projects. The GDPM creates, initiates, and/or processes work requests in Power Plant and other Work Management systems (WMS), determines customer requirements, prepares piping system designs, cost estimates and feasibility analyses, coordinates with municipalities, FDOT, and others to maintain and optimize system integrity due to road improvements and system expansions.

Maintains and updates GIS, CRM-CIS, and Work Management-Workflow databases, obtains necessary governmental permits, and coordinates activities with all involved PGS departments to ensure successful scheduling and completion of projects and high customer satisfaction.

What You Need to Succeed
  • A minimum of an Associate Degree in a related field from an accredited college/university. Related fields include Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Applied Sciences, or Business Administration.
  • Driver License with a safe driving record.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of work experience in progressively more complex technical assignments directly related to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • Demonstrated and sustained above-expected performance as a GDT II or equivalent role with another utility with potential for greater responsibility.
  • Demonstrated strong project leadership, training and communication skills and the ability to lead projects of increasing complexity and diversity.
  • Knowledge of natural gas quality issues and industry practices.
Primary

Duties & Responsibilities

Works independently on complex assignments utilizing analytical skills and judgment. Responsible for overall project management associated with the design and installation of natural gas facilities and related infrastructure, including strategic planning and modeling of the natural gas transmission and distribution network. May supervise Gas Design Technician I/II.

  • Meet with internal and external customers to conduct needs and feasibility assessments for new construction projects and load additions, and determine schedules and targeted completion dates.
  • Coordinate construction activities between departments involved in facility installation; manage communications regarding schedule changes and updates.
  • Create and process Work Orders and Construction requests in Power Plant and/or Work Management systems.
  • Perform feasibility and load analyses to determine efficient, economical, and reliable solutions; model conditions in software to determine optimal system design while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Use GIS and CAD tools to design and update distribution facilities; maintain GIS platform per company standards and guidelines.
  • Produce and oversee construction plans, easement agreements, right-of-way drawings, project charters, and Gantt charts for Distribution Operations, Real Estate and/or Contractors.
  • Verify facility locations and ensure installation specifications are captured; determine MOT plans as needed for work in the right-of-way.
  • Produce construction cost estimates and forecasts; manage CIAC and Construction Deposit considerations as required.
  • Support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance by reviewing financial data related to Engineering, Field Construction and Operations activities; assist in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Monitor and process contractor contracts and related documents for Capital and O&M activities.
  • Provide engineering and project management for large master-planned developments and commercial projects; respond to PSC inquiries as needed.
