Storm Duty Requirements
Tampa Electric and its sister companies provide critical services to the community during emergencies. All team members must participate in response and recovery activities related to storms or disasters to maintain service to customers. Duties include supporting normal job responsibilities or other assigned activities. Compensation will be provided according to the company’s rules and procedures. Responding to storms is a condition of employment.

Modeler ITitle: Modeler I
Location: Energy Control Center
State and City: Florida - Tampa
Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days

Position Concept: The Modeler I supports data administration, configuration, testing, and distribution of geospatial and electrical grid models used by Electric Delivery (ED) and Ops Technology & Innovation (OT&I). The role interprets maps and/or drawings, reconciles model changes in Tampa Electric’s GIS, ADMS, EMS, and associated systems, and works with technical team members to deliver solutions aligned with ED objectives and company strategies.
Focus Areas: CAD, GIS, G Technology, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Portal, ESRI tools.
Advancement: Progression is based on performance, qualifications, and business needs rather than time in the job.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Monitors supported applications (GIS, ADMS, EMS) to ensure data integrity and safety of the electrical grid. (30%)
- Performs basic configurations and tests of GIS and electrical models to coordinate energy delivery. (20%)
- Assists in designing, developing, and testing ad‑hoc data queries, extracts, reports, and visual displays for end users. (15%)
- Validates and modifies connectivity models for accuracy across supported applications. (15%)
- Collects, analyzes, reviews, documents, and communicates business needs to IT programmers, consultants, and engineers. (10%)
- Supports small, non‑complex projects focused on process evaluation, automation, and software alignment with business plans. (10%)
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate or technical degree in business, design, engineering, or related technology.
Associate or Bachelor degree may substitute for some years of experience.
Licenses/Certifications: Preferred:
Specialized certifications such as Certified GIS Professional.

Experience:
2 years working with or supporting distribution/transmission electrical system models.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Proficient in development fundamentals.
- Proficient in data collection and analysis.
- Knowledge of power flow across electrical grid transmission and distribution devices.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution circuit maps and hierarchy.
- Ability to read maps and schematics for distribution, substation, and transmission.
- Knowledge of electrical transmission or distribution modeling practices.
- Proficient in writing queries and reports.
- Ability to provide end‑user support and justify decisions to clients.
- Knowledge of GIS systems and workflows.
- Knowledge of work management systems and workflows.
- Ability to assess processes and provide GIS, ADMS, or EMS solutions.
- Proficient in any of the following technical applications: GE ADMS, Model Manager, Substation Editor, FG Display Builder, GE EMS, E‑Terra Source, G/Technology, G Connect, ArcGIS Suite, Esri Suite, Python, Arcade, SQL, Micro Station, AutoCAD (3D), Way 2, FME, Snowflake, Azure Dev Ops, Power BI, Access, Notepad++, SAP, Reporting Writing Tool, Visual Studio.
- Preferred:
Knowledge of Tampa Electric’s power grid and systems; surrounding control‑room functions; risk‑management related to data privacy and electrical operations.
Working Conditions: Primarily office environment (~95%). Occasionally outside for site meetings or projects (~5%). Some travel may be required. Unplanned and planned overtime is required, especially during storm season.
