The Mechanical – Electrical – Plumbing (MEP) Superintendent leads the team in specific technical areas such as HVAC, Electrical, Fire Protection and Plumbing in the preconstruction, construction and completion phases of a project.

Your Day-to-day

  • Manage MEP coordination drawing process
  • Hold weekly MEP coordination meetings on site with subcontractors.
  • Hold MEP subcontractor kickoff meetings.
  • Review & inspect MEP installations to ensure coordination & quality of work.
  • & report MEP deficiencies for Deficiency Log; review with subcontractors at weekly meetings
  • Verify field conditions in existing buildings & Building Management & Controls documents to ensure constructability
  • Meet with facility managers & user groups to understand their specific needs
  • Attend programming meetings; identify MEP constraints & requirements.
  • Review schematic & design development drawings for feasibility.
  • Coordinate with Sustainability Coordinator & perform LEED analysis as it relates to MEP systems; draft LEED IAQ Management Plans.
  • Participate in meetings with local officials during permitting phase.
  • Review & comment on subcontractor submittals, shop drawings & change requests.
  • Assist in developing closeout schedule relating to MEP work; include permitting & inspection requirements & commissioning.
  • Evaluate MEP as-built drawings & O&M Manuals.
  • Facilitate the start-up process for all MEP systems & Controls systems.
What You Bring To The Team

  • Degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred; can be substituted with experience.
  • Minimum of five years related construction experience with MEP engineering firm and/or Mechanical or Electrical Specialty Subcontracting firm
  • Must have basic understanding of MEP systems for function & coordination between scopes. Must have experience in MEP scheduling.
  • Ability to read, analyzes & interpret contract documents, safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions & procedure manuals.
  • OSHA 10 Hour Required; OSHA 30 Hour preferred. If not current, must receive within first year of employment & keep current.
  • Knowledge of all facets of ground up Construction/New Renovation
