Distribution Designer/Engineer

We are seeking a Mid-Level Distribution Designer or Engineer to support the design and development of overhead and underground electric distribution systems. This role partners with utility clients and engineering teams to deliver construction-ready design packages using GIS-based and utility design software. The ideal candidate has experience with utility distribution systems, field investigations, and client interaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Design overhead and underground electric distribution systems using field data, client requirements, and engineering standards.
• Utilize GTechnology, Work Pro, Pole Foreman and related software to develop construction-ready design packages.
• Review designs for compliance with NESC, utility standards, and industry best practices.
• Conduct field visits to collect data, identify safety concerns, and support project execution.
• Maintain engineering documentation, reports, drawings, and project records.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure quality and schedule objectives are met.

Qualifications

• Designer: High School Diploma or GED required.
• OR Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 2+ years of utility distribution design experience.
• Proficiency with GTechnology, Work Pro, Pole Foreman, or similar utility design software.
• Strong knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Field experience preferred.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with investor-owned, municipal, or cooperative utilities.
• EIT certification (for engineer candidates).
• Knowledge of pole loading, make-ready engineering, and distribution construction standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
