We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Section Head to lead the delivery of water and wastewater engineering services across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. This role will provide technical direction, project leadership and strategic oversight for the planning, design and implementation of treatment, collection, distribution and conveyance systems. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, project teams, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders to deliver safe, sustainable and cost-effective solutions that meet applicable standards and community needs.
Responsibilities will include managing and mentoring multidisciplinary engineering teams; allocating resources and monitoring technical performance; reviewing designs, specifications, calculations and reports; and overseeing projects from feasibility and concept development through detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning. You will support business development by contributing to proposals, fee estimates, technical presentations and client relationship management. The role will also involve identifying project risks, maintaining quality assurance processes, supporting health and safety objectives, and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, industry codes and regulatory requirements.
You may also be required to provide technical advice on asset management, process optimisation, network modelling, hydraulic analysis and operational improvements.
Candidates should hold a degree in civil, environmental, water resources or chemical engineering, or a related discipline, together with substantial professional experience in water and wastewater infrastructure. Professional registration or chartered status is highly desirable, as is a strong understanding of treatment processes, hydraulic principles, design software and relevant technical standards. Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing budgets, coordinating complex projects and engaging effectively with clients is essential.
The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator and collaborative leader who can make sound technical decisions, manage competing priorities and promote innovation, quality and continuous improvement. A commitment to sustainable infrastructure and resilient water services is also important.
