- Support installation, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness of automated solutions at customer facilities
- Execute commissioning procedures and verify automated equipment, controls, software applications, and networked devices
- Perform system integration testing across automated solutions, conveyors, PLCs, HMIs, warehouse control or execution systems, scanners, and related equipment
- Troubleshoot system issues by analyzing equipment behavior, alarms, software functionality, network communications, system logs, and operational sequences
- Collaborate with Controls, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, and other engineering teams to identify root causes and resolve integration issues
- Verify equipment functionality, system sequences, interlocks, material flow, and overall system performance
- Execute commissioning plans, test procedures, checklists, and system validation activities
- Document test results, issues, resolutions, system changes, and outstanding commissioning activities
- Assist with system tuning, performance optimization, and reliability improvements
- Provide feedback regarding recurring issues, system behavior, and product or process improvements
- Coordinate onsite activities with customers, technicians, contractors, project managers, and engineering teams
- Support customer training and technical handoff as systems transition into production
- Identify and communicate safety, reliability, and operational concerns
- Follow safety procedures, engineering standards, and commissioning processes
- Travel extensively and work onsite for extended commissioning periods; approximately 75-80% travel depending on project requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering, mechatronics or a related engineering discipline
- 1-3 years of engineering, automation, controls, manufacturing, systems integration, commissioning, or related experience; relevant internship or co-op experience is also valuable
- Basic understanding of industrial automation systems and how equipment, controls, software, and networking interact
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to systematically identify and isolate the root cause of system issues
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, Ethernet communications, IP addressing, and network troubleshooting
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, equipment documentation, network diagrams, system layouts, and engineering drawings
- Ability to understand equipment sequences, material flow, system interlocks, and upstream/downstream dependencies
- Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, warehouse automation systems, or similar technologies is preferred but not required
- Exposure to Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Python, C#, SQL, application logs, industrial communication protocols, or similar tools is a plus
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software applications, automation platforms, and engineering tools quickly
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to document technical issues, testing activities, and system changes clearly and accurately
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and as part of a cross-functional project team
- Comfortable working hands-on around automated industrial equipment and in active warehouse environments
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and extended shifts when required
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States and internationally
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel by air and ground transportation
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing 40+ pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including full work shifts
- Ability to follow safety procedures, wear required personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area
- Reliable attendance and punctuality, including flexibility to work extended hours, overtime, or varying shifts when required
Demonstrates expertise in system integration, troubleshooting, and commissioning of automated solutions, with a strong foundation in electrical and automation engineering principles. Proficient in collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize system performance and ensure operational readiness.
