Are you an experienced Systems Engineer with hands-on maritime engineering experience supporting U.S. Navy, submarine, submersible, surface vessel, or related maritime systems? If so, we invite you to join our team supporting U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology & Logistics (SOF AT&L), Program Executive Office for Maritime (PEO-M).

ABOUT

THIS ROLE

St. Michael's is seeking an experienced Maritime Systems Engineer to support SOF AT&L PEO-M. PEO-M develops, fields, and sustains SOF-unique maritime capabilities, including crewed and uncrewed surface and undersea platforms, combat diving systems, and specialized mission equipment. In this role, you will provide senior-level engineering support throughout the acquisition lifecycle, working with Government engineers, program managers, contractors, budget personnel, and operational stakeholders to evaluate designs, assess engineering risks, support testing and certification, review engineering changes, and help transition maritime capabilities into operational use.

WHO YOU ARE Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility required.
Certification
  • DAWIA Practitioner equivalency (formerly DAWIA Level II) in Engineering, Program Management, or Science & Technology (S&T), or the ability to attain the required certification within six (6) months of hire with an approved deferral.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of systems engineering or systems integration experience supporting acquisition programs.
  • Hands-on maritime or Naval engineering experience is required.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy or commercial submarine, submersible, Naval ship, surface vessel, or comparable maritime system design, construction, certification, and testing processes.
  • Experience supporting undersea, surface vessel, maritime mobility, or maritime mission systems.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and interpreting engineering design concepts and technical drawings.
  • Experience working with computer-aided design or graphical interface systems.
  • Experience developing test requirements, test objectives, and test plans.
  • Experience supporting system testing, certification, qualification, or acceptance activities.
  • Experience evaluating emerging scientific, environmental, or engineering technologies for incorporation into system planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, or modernization.
  • Experience supporting engineering program planning, acquisition activities, budget cycles, and financial control processes.
  • Experience reviewing engineering change proposals, waivers, deviations, nonconforming materials, technical specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and engineering studies.
  • Experience supporting engineering activities throughout design, development, production, testing, fielding, andsustainment.
Preferred Experience
  • Master's degree in an Engineering field with at least eight (8) years of systems engineering or systems integration experience supporting acquisition programs.
  • Experience supporting SOF maritime programs or Naval Special Warfare capabilities.
  • Knowledge of SOF-unique acquisition processes.
  • Experience supporting combat diving systems or specialized SOF maritime mission equipment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide systems engineering and systems integration support throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Evaluate engineering programs, development plans, designs, specifications, and technical approaches.
  • Support planning and approval of engineering projects in coordination with program managers, engineering authorities, and budget personnel.
  • Develop technical inputs for leadership briefings addressing program status, engineering challenges, risks, and recommended resolutions.
  • Support technical evaluations and market research activities.
  • Review engineering designs, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies.
  • Review engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
  • Support contract modifications and provide technical recommendations related to engineering changes.
