PLC Applications Engineer – Water & Wastewater Automation The Opportunity

I'm partnering with the Automation & Intelligence division of a major US water infrastructure organization that's going through a significant period of investment and growth.

Backed by one of the country's leading trenchless infrastructure platforms, the business is continuing to expand its automation capability across the US and is looking to add an experienced PLC Applications Engineer to its team.

This isn't simply about filling another controls engineering seat.

They're looking for someone who can make an immediate technical impact across PLC/SCADA projects while joining a growing part of the organization where there's genuine opportunity to develop, take on greater responsibility and progress as the business scales.

You will work across the design, programming, integration and commissioning of automation systems primarily supporting water and wastewater infrastructure.

• Developing and programming PLC control applications
• Developing and integrating SCADA/HMI systems
• Producing control narratives and associated project documentation
• Integrating PLCs and third-party equipment through industrial communication protocols
• Supporting FAT and SAT activities
• Traveling to customer sites for system startup, testing and commissioning
• Troubleshooting PLC/SCADA systems both remotely and in the field
• Demonstrating completed systems and supporting operator/customer training
• Working across complete automation projects from initial requirements through commissioning and handover

• 2+ years of hands-on PLC programming experience
• Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Schneider/Modicon, Siemens and/or Emerson platforms
• SCADA/HMI development or integration experience
• Experience with system startup, commissioning, FAT and/or SAT
• Understanding of industrial communication networks and protocols
• Willingness to travel to customer/project sites when required

Water/wastewater automation experience would be highly desirable, particularly across treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations or municipal infrastructure.

Experience with Ignition, Wonderware/AVEVA, iFIX or other major SCADA platforms would also be advantageous.
