Ice Crew

Job Summary

The Ice Operations Ice Crew team is responsible for maintaining safe, high‑quality ice conditions and supporting all rink operations during hockey games and ice events. Team members perform pregame setup, on‑ice maintenance during timeouts and intermissions, and postgame breakdown while ensuring equipment, benches, and game areas are prepared and maintained to professional standards.

• Clean all glass around the ice rink.
• Assure all benches (players, visiting team, penalty benches) are clean and free of debris.
• Set up the game area: lay mats for officials and set out equipment such as cans for snow, shovels, squeegees, and scrappers.
• Set seating area for the ice crew – chairs and road cases.
• Assure Glass Cut Station is set properly and all supplies and tools are present.
• Prepare ice for pregame skate by setting practice nets / swapping with game nets after pre‑game skate.
• Remove snow from ice during TV timeouts quickly and efficiently.
• Remove nets during intermission for the resurface rs, patch holes, squeegee goalie area, and replace nets quickly and efficiently.
• Remove nets and clean up benches postgame.
• Break down seating area and Glass Cut Station and return tools and supplies post‑game.

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous experience in ice rink operations, hockey, sports entertainment, or event operations (preferred).
• Strong skating ability (required).
• Effective communication skills.
• Good time‑management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and take direction well.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
• Ability to work in large crowds for an extended period of time.

• Work efficiently and effectively in office and arena environment that can be exciting, loud, and distracting.
• Work extended hours including late nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.
• Lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
• Work in cold/hot indoor and outdoor temperatures.
• Use hands and fingers on office and mobile technology.
• Work in areas that can become crowded with equipment and/or people.
• Move comfortably throughout the arena with minimal accommodations.
• Stand on feet for long periods, walk long distances, and climb stairs.
• Work comfortably around special effects including haze, strobe lights, lasers, etc.
• Walk up to 0.5 miles to and from designated employee parking areas, including in varying weather conditions and during high‑traffic event times.
