Position: RESIDENTIAL LOAN PROCESSOR

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Loan Processing & Documentation

  • Assist in processing residential mortgage loan applications from origination through closing.
  • Establish and maintain complete electronic and physical loan files.
  • Scan, upload, and properly index loan documentation into the Bank’s imaging and loan origination systems.
  • Review loan applications and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Identify missing, inconsistent, or incomplete documentation and communicate deficiencies to appropriate parties.
  • Order and monitor third-party services including:
    • Appraisals
    • Flood certifications
    • Title work
    • Verifications of employment
    • Credit supplements
    • Tax transcripts
    • Homeowners insurance
  • Perform verbal and written verification of employment and other borrower information as required.
  • Enter and update borrower and loan data within the Bank’s mortgage systems.
  • Maintain accurate loan status updates and processing notes.
Communication & Customer Service
  • Serve as a liaison between borrowers, Mortgage Loan Originators, underwriters, closing agents, and third‑party vendors.
  • Provide professional and timely communication regarding loan conditions and documentation requirements.
  • Assist customers with documentation requests and general loan processing inquiries.
  • Support a customer‑focused banking experience consistent with Central Bank’s service standards.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure loan files comply with:
    • Federal mortgage lending regulations
    • Investor guidelines
    • Internal bank policies and procedures
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of customer financial and personal information in accordance with:
    • GLBA
    • Bank privacy policies
    • Information security standards
  • Assist with preparation for internal audits, examinations, and quality control reviews.
  • Adhere to all applicable BSA/AML, OFAC, and fraud prevention procedures.
Operational Support
  • Support overall workflow management within the Residential Lending Department.
  • Maintain organized tracking systems for pipeline management and outstanding loan conditions.
  • Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of mortgage lending, loan processing, or banking experience preferred.
  • Experience with FHA, VA, USDA, FNMA, and FHLMC loan programs preferred.
  • Familiarity with DU/LP underwriting systems preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of residential mortgage documentation and processing procedures.
  • Understanding of mortgage compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Customer‑service oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with mortgage loan origination systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in document imaging and PDF software such as Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Ability to learn and navigate banking and mortgage software systems efficiently.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use computers and standard office equipment for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry files or office materials up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically.
Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment within a community banking setting. The employee routinely uses standard office equipment including computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and related technology.
