Reporting to Originations Leadership, this position is responsible for driving new residential mortgage business by proactively selling correspondent and approved brokered mortgage products to meet individual production goals, while simultaneously supporting team development and operational excellence. This role uses customer contact software in a fast-paced call center environment to engage potential borrowers, assess their financial needs and educate them on suitable mortgage solutions.
In addition to originating loans through leads provided by Fay Servicing, purchased leads from Genstone Financial, and self-generated referrals, this position serves as a subject matter expert in loan product structures, regulatory requirements and customer service excellence. Additionally, this position plays a key role in mentoring peers, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of performance, compliance and collaboration. This role partners closely with internal teams to ensure a seamless loan process and acts as a liaison between originators and leadership, identifying opportunities for improvement and contributing to overall team success.
Core Functions and Responsibilities:- Originate residential mortgage loans through a combination of outbound and inbound calls, referrals and self generated leads.
- Conduct thorough borrower interviews to evaluate financial needs and recommend suitable mortgage solutions.
- Maintain strong personal production while consistently demonstrating professional sales behavior and leadership.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state and company lending policies, including HDMA and other regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for peers on loan products, systems (e.g., Encompass) and sales strategies.
- Provide informal coaching and day‑to‑day support to peers, especially new hires and junior originators.
- Share successful techniques and insights during team meetings and training sessions to enhance overall team performance.
- Support onboarding by helping new team members navigate systems, processes and performance expectations.
- Monitor team performance trends and proactively identify areas for improvement or additional support.
- Collaborate with leadership to communicate front‑line feedback and recommend process or workflow enhancements.
- Assist peers with pipeline management, resolving loan issues, and handling complex borrower scenarios.
- Partner with internal departments to ensure efficient loan processing and timely closings.
- Lead and/ or participate in team projects and initiatives, including process improvement efforts, training development, system enhancements and cross‑functional collaboration to support business goals.
- High School Diploma/ GED required;
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance preferred - Active NMLS license required with multiple state licenses preferred
- 3+ years’ experience in an inside sales mortgage originations environment with a proven track record of success
- Strong knowledge of residential loan origination, residential loan products and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to multi‑task, self‑manage and self‑motivate to drive new business
- Prior experience working with Loan Origination Systems (LOS);
