The Director of Finance serves as the CFO’s key strategic partner and second-in-command, providing leadership across budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and operational decision support. This role blends strong analytical and technical finance expertise with solid accounting knowledge and an emphasis on building and developing a high-performing finance team.

The ideal candidate is someone who is forward-thinking, systems-oriented, data-driven, and capable of improving processes, elevating analytical rigor, and building/developing teams. The Director of Finance will support the shell and drywall companies while enabling the CFO to focus on broader enterprise initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Financial Planning & Analysis Leadership
  • Lead the company’s forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning processes.
  • Develop robust financial models to support scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and business cases.
  • Analyze financial and operational trends to identify performance risks, improvement opportunities, and cost drivers.
  • Deliver timely reporting and executive-level insights that support strategic and operational decisions.
Accounting & Financial Operations Support
  • Partner closely with Controllers analyze and report upon job profitability and drivers.
  • Support standardization and optimization of financial processes across entities.
  • Prepare and present variance analysis with explanations of drivers and actionable recommendations.
  • Provide direct coaching, mentorship, and professional development to finance team members.
  • Build a culture of analytical excellence, accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish clear expectations, structured workflows, and performance development plans.
  • Foster collaboration between finance, accounting, and operations teams.
Strategic & Operational Partnership
  • Partner with operations leadership to translate job performance, schedules, field execution, and cost behavior into financial insight.
  • Support development of KPIs, dashboards, and performance reporting for executive and operational visibility.
  • Work with the CFO to drive financial architecture, systems improvements, and decision-support capabilities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with demonstrated FP&A leadership.
  • Strong financial modeling skills (required).
  • Background in job costing, WIP, and project-based financial reporting strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Sage Intacct, SQL Server, Power BI, and Alteryx is a strong advantage.
