Minimum Qualifications:- Senior Service College and/or Master's Degree, preferably in strategic studies, political science, International Affairs/Relations or other related field.
- Active TS clearance. Eligible for SCI.
- 3 years policy experience, preferably SOF-related, working at a DoD Combatant Command OR, OSD OR Joint Staff OR a 4-Star Command within the past 10 years.
- 1 year experience using web-based programs such as social media platforms, and ALL Microsoft Office products (i.e., SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel).
The objective of this requirement is to provide The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) fully capable and enabled SOF personnel to defend the Nation's interests pursuant to the National Defense Strategy in an environment characterized by irregular warfare and asymmetric challenges.
Responsibilities:- Provide coordination of national and command strategic policy and authority actions across USSOCOM enterprise in conjunction with national-level and Department of Defense policy organizations ensuring CDRUSSOCOM priorities and guidance are represented within national guidance.
- Coordinates USSOCOM policy requirements to ensure special operations forces have the proactive authorities required to compete within USSOCOM directed mission areas.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with OSD - Policy, ASD-SO/LIC, US Joint Staff Policy, Components, Theater Special Operations Commands and internal USSOCOM HQ organizations to influence, shape and advocate policy changes necessary to advance the USSOCOM enterprise mission and vision.
- Participates in all phases of analysis, ascertaining timelines for response, determining, or confirming required coordination procedures, initial determinations of USSOCOM responses and preparation of deliverables.
- Provides authoritative interpretations and guidance to management officials and other senior leaders of national and command strategic policy to include the analysis of requirements, guidance, administration and assessment of response for all actions required to fulfill mission and tasks.
- Serves as Subject Matter Expert for USSOCOM policy priorities within national-level strategic guidance documents; to include but not limited to, National Security Strategy, National Defense Strategy, Unified Campaign Plan, etc.
- Communicates strategic assessments of policy actions to inform risk to USSOCOM assigned mission areas providing best military advice to the CDRUSSOCOM and other SOF leaders.
- When required facilitate key leader talking points to allow CDRUSSOCOM to engage with U.S. national policy makers addressing USSOCOM policy needs.
- Senior Service College and/or Master's Degree, preferably in strategic studies, political science, International Affairs/Relations or other related field.
- Active TS Clearance. SCI Eligible.
