Salary: $58,000 - $60,000

Work Schedule &Location:
While some flexibility may be available, this is not a remote-only position. A successful candidate must be able to work from Metropolitan Ministries offices and attend meetings, events, site visits, and community engagements in person as business needs require.
Job Functions:The Government Relations Manager supports Metropolitan Ministries’ mission by coordinating day-to-day government relations and public affairs activity at the municipal, county, state, and federal levels. Working under the direction of the VP, Program Innovation, this position tracks legislative and budget developments, maintains records and relationships with government contacts, coordinates logistics for meetings and site visits with public officials, and prepares briefing materials that support the work of executive leadership and the organization’s contracted lobbyist(s).
This is an entry-level management position: the Government Relations Manager owns the organization’s government relations calendar, records, and event coordination, and may supervise interns or volunteers assigned to the function.
Legislative and Policy Tracking
- Track legislative sessions, regulatory changes, budget priorities, and funding developments across municipalities, counties, and state and federal governments relevant to Metropolitan Ministries’ core program areas, including homelessness and poverty alleviation.
- Maintain a current calendar of legislative sessions, committee meetings, budget deadlines, and advocacy events, and alert leadership to items requiring attention.
- Summarize policy and budget developments into clear, timely written updates for the VP, Program Innovation and internal teams.
- Own and maintain the government relations tracking system, ensuring information is accurate, current, and accessible to leadership.
- Provide staff support to the organization’s contracted government relations lobbyist(s), including scheduling, information gathering, follow-up, and documentation.
- Maintain and steward working relationships with government staff, agency contacts, and the offices of elected officials.
- Facilitate stewardship touchpoints to ensure consistent, thoughtful engagement beyond transactional funding requests.
- Responsible for the logistics of site visits, program tours, briefings, and one-on-one meetings between government sector leaders and Metropolitan Ministries leadership.
