The District is a government agency whose mission is to protect water resources, minimize flood risks, and ensure the public's water needs are met. We serve a population of nearly 6 million people in west-central Florida as directed by state law.

Gain valuable hands-on experience by assisting our Water Use Permit (WUP) Compliance section. You will have the opportunity to work as an active team member on both sides of the permitting process and will also work with our Senior Staff to complete important projects.

This internship opportunity is not eligible for remote work, all work will be conducted at the Tampa, FL office.

• Work with overpumpage in the Compliance section
• Work with ownership transfers in the Water Use Permit section
• Handle other projects as needed
• Visit sites with senior team members

This position requires the ability to perform continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Must be able to operate a District vehicle with attached equipment for two hours or more at a time. May be exposed to extremes in temperature and humidity, as well as a variety of pests, including mosquitoes and ticks. Work environments vary by assigned business unit.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or other recognized educational or vocational program
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students
• Valid driver's license

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
• Statistics experience
• Preferred Degrees:
  Geology, Environmental Science, or related field
• Preferred Degree Level: Undergraduate or Graduate

This position is typically scheduled to work no more than 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, out of the Tampa, FL office. Student Internship positions are not eligible for insured medical benefits.
