Collections Specialist

Position Overview

Cove Behavioral Health is seeking a Collections Specialist with a strong background in medical collections to join our team. This role requires a proactive, solution-oriented professional who is committed to recovering outstanding balances while maintaining positive relationships with payers and patients. A "never say no" attitude and problem-solving mindset are essential.

• Research, resolve, and appeal denied or underpaid claims efficiently.
• Navigate Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance portals to verify claim statuses and submit corrections.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal billing regulations while maximizing reimbursement.
• Work closely with the billing team to identify trends in denials and implement solutions.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of collection activities and payer communications.

• 2+ years of medical collections experience in a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of insurance claims processing, Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payers.
• Proficiency in Trizetto and Methosoft (or similar medical billing software).
• Ability to problem-solve, negotiate, and think critically in challenging collection scenarios.
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with insurance representatives and internal teams.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts.
