The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of an RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.

• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room and patients to ensure a sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens.
• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program or military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set‑up.
• Interpersonal skills.
