Wellness Assistant / Personal Trainer

(Mon-Fri 9am-5:30pm)

The #1 Priority of this position is…

To provide daily supervision and maintenance of the Gym area and equipment; to guide, instruct and assist residents with the safe use of exercise equipment and swimming pool
while considering their physical, cognitive and emotional condition and medical
history; to conduct individual and group exercise training sessions.

• Communicates with residents regarding their individual fitness goals, establish and maintain an updated log of their basic medical history and to ensure all medical and liability releases are current.
• Assists residents in proper selection and adjustment of exercise equipment.
• Supervises resident during use of exercise equipment to maximize safety.
• Establishes and conducts individual and group exercise training sessions.
• Maintains proper order and cleanliness throughout all areas of gym.
• Maintains inventory of equipment and departmental supplies.
• Supervises residents during classes and overall use of the gym area.
• Supervises residents and guests during use of pool.
• Is aware of scheduled classes both in the gym and the pool and encourages resident’s participation.
• Collaborates with Activities Department regarding classes scheduled for Wellness Center area.
• Ensures ongoing communication with all department team members and direct supervisor to report any changes noted with residents.
• Maintains high standards of professionalism and ensures safety throughout all areas of responsibility.
• Any other task assigned by Management.

• Certified Personal Trainer preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree or College course work in Exercise Physiology preferred
• At least 3 years prior Physical Fitness experience or related field.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid CPR certification.
• Must be able to swim

• Responsible, always on time, resourceful, high organizational skills, very accurate and detail-oriented.
• Flexible as to work schedule. Must be available to work on weekends, holidays and in emergency situations.
• Must be able to work under pressure and handle multi-task functions.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently AND as a team member.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal communications, interpersonal skills and empathetic listening.
• Must have great Customer Service skills.
• Ability to speak, read and write English. Ability to communicate in Spanish.
