Lab Assistant; Pre-Analytical Assistant

Overview

Lab Assistant (Pre-Analytical Assistant I) – Tampa, FL;
Tuesday to Saturday, 2:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The Pre-Analytical role is within the Technical Operations Department, supporting specimen management and the testing process to ensure accurate and timely results.

• Demonstrates an ability to learn the job duties assigned to the Pre-Analytical Assistant I, understands how Tech Ops and Specimen Processing work together, and how they impact departments and result quality.
• Identifies problems with specimen types, missing information, and issues related to sorting, racking, centrifuging, delivery, and storage; resolves or forwards information to support timely problem resolution.
• Assists in compliance with policies related to test ordering, including researching test order information on translation tables, computer systems, and the directory of services.
• Meets quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training.
• Completes required written documentation in a clear, legible, and timely manner.
• Reports to work on time, follows attendance guidelines, and supports the department’s performance in coworker absences.
• Learns additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing to progress toward the next level.
• Performs other duties as assigned. This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities.

  High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• Knowledge

  Medical background preferred, including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.

  Minimal data entry skills

  Previous experience in a production environment

Pay range
: $18.33+ per hour. Shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours may apply. Details provided if an offer is extended.

Salary offers are based on factors including skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Eligible candidates may receive an annual performance bonus.
