This position is NOT REMOTE.
We are seeking an Entry-Level Medical Billing / Accounts Receivable Specialist to support insurance follow-ups, claims resolution, and basic appeals. This role is ideal for candidates with foundational knowledge of accounts receivable and up to two years of experience in medical billing
, or those looking to grow their career in revenue cycle operations.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn while working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic are essential.
Responsibilities- Review outstanding insurance claims and assist with payer follow-ups under guidance
- Work assigned new and aging A/R accounts to support timely resolution and payment
- Assist with insurance denials and zero-pay claims; elevate complex issues as needed
- Monitor accounts to identify unpaid or underpaid claims
- Perform timely follow-up activities to support prompt reimbursement
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs/EORs) to identify basic billing or coding issues
- Prepare accounts for rebilling and submit claims with appropriate documentation
- Assist with preparing and submitting appeals for denials or short payments
- Update patient account records accurately to reflect actions taken
- Research account history to support claim resolution
- Support special projects and assignments as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Basic knowledge of accounts receivable and medical billing processes
- 0–2 years of experience in medical billing, collections, or revenue cycle
- Familiarity with insurance claims processing and payer follow-ups
- Basic understanding of ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic database systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow within the role
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Exposure to insurance denials or appeals (preferred)
- Experience in a healthcare, medical office, or billing environment (preferred)
- Familiarity with EOBs/EORs (preferred)
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
