Job DescriptionEnsure proper setup of meeting and banquet facilities by communicating effectively through leads to associates and handling guests’ requests on the floor to meet guest expectations and OMNI Standards.
Responsibilities- Directly responsible for the daily supervision of banquet housemen.
- Introduce yourself to the meeting/convention planner as the primary contact while the group is in house; follow up daily and reconfirm details.
- Communicate changes to appropriate departments.
- Inspect each function room prior to and during breaks to ensure all requirements are met according to the BEO and client needs, hotel standards.
- Ensure cleanliness and readiness of: walls/baseboards/light fixtures, room cleanliness, drapes, lighting/temperature control, tablecloths and skirting.
- Initiate and maintain contact with each Conference Service Manager (CSM) to address last-minute requests/changes.
- Meet daily with banquet housemen to ensure uniforms and personal hygiene requirements are met.
- Review daily worksheet and assign duties to each banquet Houseman.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of storage areas; ensure proper use and storage of all setup equipment.
- Provide necessary training for each banquet houseman and ensure high-quality standards are maintained.
- Coordinate with the Banquet Director on disciplinary actions per Rules of Conduct as stated in the Omni Hotels Associate Handbook.
- Plan daily setup responsibilities using the worksheet.
- Conduct monthly MOS audits for all setup associates and monthly all-hands meetings.
- Serve as a supervisor in other Banquet departments as directed or needed.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring and training of new associates.
- Complete inventory of equipment and supplies to maintain pars.
- Leadership, planning and organizational skills.
- Time management skills.
- Extensive verbal and basic written skills.
- Mathematical ability: add, subtract, multiply and divide; perform arithmetic operations involving monetary units.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to remain calm, organized and diplomatic under pressure.
- Ability to apply common sense and follow instructions.
- Basic computer skills.
Job Requirements (Essential Functions)
- Able to extend arms and grasp, turn and hold objects.
- Able to walk, stand and drive to a significant degree.
- Able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds frequently, and/or 1-25 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Able to hear and communicate clearly.
- Able to have a visual acuity of 20 inches or less and distinguish colors.
- Able to work outdoors in fluctuating temperatures, inclement weather, vapors and exhaust typical to hospitality.
- Must be able to walk, stand and drive/ride for a significant portion of hours.
- Able to work quickly in a high-pressure environment with a calm, polite attitude.
- Be flexible to schedule changes.
