The Role

We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations professional to serve as a trusted advisor to employees, managers, and HR partners across North America. This role will lead complex employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and compliance guidance, while ensuring fair, consistent, and legally sound outcomes. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, deep knowledge of employment law, and the ability to navigate sensitive situations with confidence and empathy in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a senior point of contact for employees and managers regarding workplace concerns, grievances, and disputes. Lead complex conflict resolution efforts and consultation to management on effective and compliant issue resolution.
  • Lead and independently conduct employee investigations, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to legal and company standards. Assess findings, develop recommendations, and partner with HR business partners on appropriate outcomes and corrective actions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on employee relations policies, providing interpretation and guidance to managers and HR business partners to ensure consistent and equitable application across North America.
  • Monitor and support compliance with employment laws, regulations, and labor agreements across all jurisdictions where the firm operates. Stay informed about changes in labor laws and regulations and advise on their impact.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for managers and employees on employee relations topics, including conflict resolution, effective communication, and compliance with labor laws.
  • Promote and support initiatives that enhance employee engagement and satisfaction. Collaborate with HR teams to implement programs that foster a positive work culture and address employee needs.
  • Analyze employee relations metrics, investigation data, and case trends to identify systemic issues, emerging risks, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare clear actionable reports and recommendations to senior management and HR business partners.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to HR business partners and junior employee relations team members on complex cases, serving as an escalation point as appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with the Associate Director and broader HR leadership to align employee relations practices with organizational strategy and ensure consistent implementation across teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) are a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in employee and labor relations or a related field, with a proven track record in managing employee relations issues in a large, multinational organization.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws, labor relations practices, and conflict resolution techniques. Experience with collective bargaining and labor union interactions is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with HR management systems and tools.
