The Lead Payroll Specialist will take full ownership of payroll operations for a 350+ employee workforce, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant biweekly payroll processing. The Lead Payroll Specialist must be highly experienced in ADP, comfortable with data imports and system automation, and confident working with large datasets in Excel, including pivot tables.
This is a hands‑on Lead Payroll Specialist role requiring a detail‑oriented, process‑driven professional who thrives in a high‑volume environment. The ideal Lead Payroll Specialist is proactive, analytical, and confident managing payroll independently while continuously improving systems and efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities Of The Lead Payroll Specialist- Process biweekly payroll for 350+ employees, primarily Florida-based staff
- Manage full-cycle payroll in ADP, including data entry, audits, adjustments, and reconciliations
- Oversee payroll imports, system integrations, and automation processes (MUST HAVE)
- Ensure compliance with federal, state (Florida), and local payroll regulations
- Review and validate timekeeping data prior to payroll processing
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and benefits
- Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies quickly and accurately
- Utilize Excel extensively, including pivot tables and advanced formulas, for reporting and analysis
- Partner with HR and Finance to ensure accurate employee data flow and reporting
- Support audits and provide payroll documentation as needed
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase payroll efficiency and accuracy
- 5+ years of high-volume payroll experience
- Proven experience processing payroll for 350+ employees
- Extensive hands‑on experience with ADP (Workforce Now or similar platform preferred)
- Strong Excel skills required, including pivot tables and data analysis
- Demonstrated experience with payroll imports and automation (required)
- Deep understanding of multi-entity and multi-location payroll processing
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and garnishments
- High level of accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and take ownership as a true Lead Payroll Specialist
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross‑functionally
