Job Title:
Senior / Principal Cloud & Solutions Architect
Duration: 12 month contract
Role OverviewWe are seeking a Senior / Principal Cloud & Solutions Architect with a strong software engineering and infrastructure background to design, standardize, and support secure, highly available enterprise platforms. This role operates in a highly regulated environment and focuses on cloud modernization, Dev Ops enablement, and microservices architecture.
The architect will partner closely with application development, infrastructure, network, security, and compliance teams to produce high-quality technical designs that serve as authoritative blueprints for engineering and deployment teams.

- Translate complex and sometimes ambiguous business and technical requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions
- Create High-Level Architecture Designs for stakeholder review and approval (business, security, infrastructure, regulatory)
- Produce Detailed Technical Designs used by engineering teams for build and deployment, and retained as post-implementation artifacts
- Design and standardize reusable architecture patterns to streamline delivery and ensure consistency across platforms
- Support cloud and hybrid infrastructure initiatives, including modernization and migration efforts
- Design for high availability, resiliency, and disaster recovery
, including multi-region and multi-site strategies - Collaborate across development, infrastructure, network, security, and data teams to ensure aligned execution
- Clearly communicate architectural decisions, tradeoffs, and constraints to technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong experience with AWS
, including: - EC2 compute sizing and storage options
- Automated infrastructure and application deployments
- Landing zone design and governance
- Experience with Open Shift (or similar container platforms):
- CPU and memory resource planning
- Hands‑on experience with enterprise database platforms, including:
- Oracle
- Additional RDBMS or cloud‑native databases (Aurora, SQL Server, etc.)
- Experience with Kafka (including managed or multi‑cluster environments such as Confluent Kafka)
- Experience with traditional messaging platforms such as IBM MQ
- Understanding of event‑driven architecture patterns and use cases
- Designing and defining firewall rules across cloud and on‑premises environments
- Experience with:
- VPNs and secure connectivity
- DNS, load balancing, and traffic routing
- Reverse proxies for web and API access
- Understanding security and routing considerations specific to APIs
- Familiarity with identity, access management, and secrets management
- Strong understanding of API architecture and management
- Experience with API gateways and related tooling (e.g., Apigee or equivalent)
- Ability to produce clear, detailed diagrams for both technical teams and stakeholders
- Former software developer or infrastructure engineer who transitioned into architecture
- Strong infrastructure and platform engineering experience
- Hands‑on application implementation experience in cloud environments is a plus
- Experience with on‑prem to cloud or hybrid migrations is a plus
- Experience in event‑driven and microservices architectures is a plus
- Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance concepts (formal GRC ownership not required)
- Strong collaboration and teamwork mindset
- Willingness to operate within established standards and governance processes
- Ability to explain architectural decisions and variables to delivery and deployment teams
- Receptive to feedback and capable of working in structured, regulated environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability
- 8–10+ years of experience in:
- Cross‑functional engineering, and/or
- Platform, infrastructure, or solutions architecture
