Network Configuration Technician (short‑term contract)

Our client is seeking a Network Configuration Technician to support Production Engineering with staging, configuring, validating, and documenting network equipment for customer deployments. The role focuses on repeatable device configuration work using approved guides, templates, and defined internal processes.

$25–35 per hour, W2

Short‑term contract

• Stage, configure, validate, and document network equipment to support customer deployment projects
• Follow approved configuration guides, templates, and internal procedures for device setup
• Perform initial device login, password setup, and basic system preparation
• Configure basic network settings including interfaces, VLANs, DHCP validation, switch ports, and device naming
• Authorize and validate connected network devices such as switches and access points
• Assist with firmware validation and upgrade activities using approved versions and instructions
• Apply assigned device templates, configuration profiles, and policy packages under engineering direction
• Confirm device connectivity to internal management systems and controller platforms
• Validate that assigned configuration steps are complete before handing devices off for the next stage of deployment
• Document configuration status, issues, serial numbers, hostnames, and completion notes as required
• Identify and raise errors, missing information, connectivity issues, or unexpected device behavior
• Coordinate with engineers, warehouse teams, project teams, and field technicians as needed
• Maintain clean, accurate, and consistent work across multiple devices in a bench configuration environment
• Assist with other related configuration, staging, or validation duties as assigned by management

• Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on network configuration, network support, field implementation, or technical staging experience
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, VLANs, basic routing, switch ports, and network connectivity validation
• Comfortable entering commands through CLI and following documented command line procedures
• Comfortable working in web‑based network management portals, controller tools, or administrative interfaces
• Experience configuring or supporting firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, or similar network devices
• Ability to follow a detailed configuration guide without skipping steps
• Ability to recognize when device behavior does not match the documented process and raise it appropriately
• Strong attention to detail when working with serial numbers, hostnames, interface names, firmware versions, and assigned templates
• Ability to document work clearly in tickets, spreadsheets, or project tracking tools
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Dependable, organized, and able to complete repeatable technical tasks on schedule
• Prior experience with Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, Juniper, Aruba, Sonic Wall, or similar network equipment
• Prior hardware staging, bench configuration, deployment preparation, or network refresh experience
• Network Plus, CCNA, Security Plus, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent practical experience preferred but not required

• Hourly pay range $25–35, W2 status
• Short‑term contract with potential for additional assignments
