Summary
The Power BI Administrator is responsible for the enterprise administration, configuration, governance, and optimization of CAE's Power BI ecosystem, including Power BI Pro, Premium Per User (PPU), and Premium Capacities (P1-P5). This role ensures secure, reliable, scalable BI environments; enables CI/CD deployment pipelines for Power BI; manages workspace governance; and ensures robust connectivity and refresh architecture with Snowflake. The position serves as the enterprise expert and technical authority for Power BI platform operations and capacity management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Serve as the enterprise administrator and subject matter expert for Power BI Pro, PPU, and Premium Capacity (P1-P5).
- Architect, configure, and maintain Power BI Premium capacities, including workload settings, autoscale policies, refresh optimization, and performance monitoring.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for Power BI deployment using Git Hub.
- Govern and manage workspace design, workspace roles, security groups, and access policies.
- Administer tenant settings, licensing, gateways, and Power BI configurations.
- Monitor and optimize dataset refresh schedules, gateway performance, and Snowflake connections.
- Establish and maintain best practices for dataset modeling, refresh design, and capacity allocation.
- Provide enterprise governance documentation, standards, and compliance controls for Power BI usage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to dataset failures, refresh errors, capacity overload, and gateway connectivity.
- Partner with Data Engineering and Cloud teams to optimize Snowflake‑to‑Power BI performance and reliability.
- Conduct capacity utilization reviews and recommend scaling or reallocation actions.
- Support operational readiness, including monitoring, alerting, and performance dashboards for BI infrastructure.
- Train and mentor analysts, report developers, and business users in Power BI governance, usage, and administration best practices.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience administering and managing Power BI, including Power BI Pro, PPU, and Premium capacities (P1‑P5).
- Expert knowledge of Power BI Service administration, tenant settings, workspace governance, licensing models, gateways, and security.
- Strong experience implementing CI/CD for Power BI dashboards and datasets using Azure Dev Ops, Git integration, or related tools.
- Experience with DAX, data modeling, and enterprise BI development best practices.
- Familiarity with Power BI Admin Portal.
- Strong reasoning, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Snowflake administration.
- Knowledge of data governance, security compliance, and role‑based access control.
- Familiarity with automation via Power Shell, Fabric APIs, or REST APIs.
- Experience managing enterprise‑scale BI transformation programs.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non‑technical teams.
- Must comply with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures.
- Properly mark and handle all information and materials in any form.
- Do not divulge any information or grant access to employees not authorized.
- Do not share information outside the company without management approval.
- All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company‑provided resources.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
- Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility.
- Must be able to work overtime on and off‑shifts as required.
- Employee is on call 24×7 for resolution of problems and issues.
- Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. for equipment setup or maintenance.
