AFS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Cloud Native Applications & Dev Sec Ops  (DSOP), including automation, cloud services, container orchestration & software development. This role requires a strong foundation in Linux engineering with skills in containerization technologies, CI/CD and experience working in public and private clouds.

The candidate will have a proven track record in automating software deployments and implementing solutions to accelerate release cycles. This role’s core responsibility revolves around empowering development teams with a robust platform that streamlines processes and enhances collaboration.

• Implement, maintain, and support build, integration & test, and deployment pipelines, utilizing tools such as Kubernetes, Gitlab, ArgoCD, etc, across hybrid cloud computing environments.
• Read and understand various application programming interfaces (APIs) and implement automation as required.
• Develop & improve automation for efficient deployment and management of cloud resources using tools such as Terraform, Ansible.
• Integrate security and compliance into the platform by implementing services such as encryption and access management to meet DISA STIGs compliance with security standards and policies across hybrid containerized environments.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate Dev Ops practices into the software development lifecycle, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Assist development teams with implementing containerized deployments utilizing tools such as Kustomize, Helm and Docker/Podman.
• Account for disaster recovery scenarios, implement & test backup and recovery procedures.
• Monitor the environment for performance metrics and alerts, identify bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.
• Stay abreast of latest Dev Sec Ops  and Cloud Native technologies and work with stakeholders to recommend more efficient solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience with a minimum of 3 years’ direct experience in a Dev Sec Ops  role or related experience.
• Solid understanding of Linux/Unix Administration.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficient in one or more computer programming languages commonly used in scripting & automation, such as Bash, Python, Go, Rust.
• Demonstrated experience in automating cloud deployments and developing infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Possess and maintain relevant DoD 8570/8140 IAT level II Certification.

• Familiarity with open‑source tooling, contributing to open‑source tools, ability to find root cause and open useful issues.
• Prior experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Consul, Linkerd)
• Background in VMWARE vSphere and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Proficient in applying DISA STIGs within cloud and containerized environments.
• Possess one or more of the following certifications:
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
  • AWS Dev Ops Professional
  • GIAC Cloud Security Automation
  • Hashi Corp Certified Terraform Associate or equivalent experience
