Title: Data Architect, Data Modeling & Integration Design Focus

Responsibilities

Define and evolve the data architecture in alignment with enterprise standards to support diverse use cases such as reporting, OLAP, dashboards, data mining, and statistical analysis. Ensure the architecture meets operational requirements including scalability, security, reliability, and flexibility. Determine the appropriate deployment environment, whether cloud-based or on-premises. (25%)

Establish best practices for source data analysis, ETL design and documentation, data federation across platforms (e.g., AMI, Empower, custom analytics), business rule placement, ETL testing and release management, database-level security, and data masking, anonymization, and tokenization. (15%)

Translate user requirements into data models and supporting applications by guiding data analysts in source analysis, advising ETL developers, and designing logical and physical analytic data structures. Deploy metadata tools to document data sources, analytic structures, semantic layers, and BI applications; implement security for data integration and cleansing tools; collaborate on support environments and release management best practices; oversee the operational environment;

and work with DBAs and operations teams to monitor and optimize ETL and data structure performance. (15%)

Accountable for the quality of data model and ETL application deliverables and responsible for establishing and managing QA related functions including testing (unit, system, stress, etc.) and peer reviews (e.g., reviews of data models, ETL application design, etc.). (15%)

Provide technical oversight of the activities of ETL developers and data analysts and coach and mentor regarding technical skills and competencies. (15%)

Serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) to provide consultation. (15%)

Qualifications

Education
- Required:
  
  Bachelor's Degree in Information/Computer Science, Data/Information Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field.
Direct Experience
- Required:
  
  7 years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this position.
Licenses/Certifications
- Preferred:
  At least one professional certification in specific job-related disciplines.
Preferred Experience
- Gas or Electric utility experience.
- Experience working in large public or private-sector organizations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
- Required:
  
  Deep knowledge and experience with SAP and Microsoft Azure suites (ETL, service bus, data quality tools) and understanding of SAP HANA, SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft PowerBI platforms; ability to provide thought leadership regarding deployment.
- Required:
  
  Deep knowledge and experience in establishing ETL application design standards and in designing and implementing such applications.
- Preferred:
  Demonstrated knowledge of Electric Grid Solutions such as ADMS, EMS, AMI/MDM, Intergraph GIS.
- Preferred:
  Knowledge of fundamentals of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning, etc.), Blockchain, etc.
- Preferred:
  Ability to assess emerging business & regulatory changes and articulate how these can positively impact the Company.
