HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a COMSEC Specialist who is responsible for the management, safeguarding, distribution, and accountability of all Communications Security (COMSEC) materials and equipment in accordance with NSA COMSEC policy and applicable national‑level directives. This role ensures the secure operation of cryptographic devices across mission networks, supports audits and inspections, and provides training to personnel to maintain compliance and operational readiness.
WhatYou Will Do
- Manage, safeguard, and account for all COMSEC materials, cryptographic equipment, and keying material in accordance with NSA, DoD, and organizational policy.
- Distribute keying material using approved secure courier procedures and the Electronic Key Management System (EKMS).
- Configure and maintain secure communication devices including KG‑250X inline network encryptors, KIV‑7 devices, TACLANE encryptors, and associated key fill equipment.
- Conduct quarterly COMSEC audits of equipment inventories, keying material accountability records, and physical security controls at Mac Dill AFB and forward‑deployed locations.
- Investigate COMSEC incidents such as lost fills, equipment compromise, or key discrepancies; report findings to NSA Central Security Service in accordance with CNSSI 4009.
- Maintain detailed records in EKMS and local databases to support compliance inspections, accreditation, and continuous monitoring requirements.
- Provide training to personnel on COMSEC handling procedures, secure device operation, proper use of key fill devices, and incident reporting protocols.
- Collaborate with RMF teams to ensure cryptographic and COMSEC controls meet NIST SP 800‑53 requirements for the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and classified data.

Level 2: 3 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; 1 year relevant experience with a Master’s in a related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.
Level 3: 6 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; 4 years relevant experience with a Master’s in a related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
Level 4: 10 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; 8 years relevant experience with a Master’s in a related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
