Job Description:

Your work in Wireless Communications at GDIT will have an impact on our clients’ missions and ensuring personnel on travel are always in contact with their team.

Job Summary:

The USCENTCOM Executive Communications Branch is seeking a highly skilled Wireless Technician to support the secure and non‑secure mobile communications needs of the Command. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the provisioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of specialized wireless and mobile systems used by staff. You will operate in a dynamic, high‑visibility environment where reliability, security, and rapid response are paramount to ensuring uninterrupted command and control (C2) capabilities for the Command.

WHAT

YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Device Management: Procure, inventory, track, configure, provision, and issue secure classified and unclassified mobile/cellular communications devices.
  • Lifecycle Support: Conduct comprehensive testing, provide end‑user training, and perform troubleshooting throughout the lifespan of the devices.
  • Security & Accountability: Develop and enforce procedures to verify that only authorized personnel are issued mobile devices and ensure those users always maintain positive physical control of their assets.
  • Customer Support: Provide dedicated, on‑site customer service and technical support for all cellular mobility devices and services.
  • Analytics & Optimization: Analyze mobile service usage data to identify trends, recommend actionable areas for cost‑savings or capability increases, and maintain detailed historical records of device and service usage.
  • Data Preservation: Actively identify and preserve text messages and mobile data classified as official records, ensuring they are properly captured and ingested into the Command’s Records Management Application.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in wireless/cellular, telecommunications, electronics, or related field preferred.
  • DoD 8570 or DoD 8140 IT certs like CompTIA Security + CE.
  • Required clearance:
    Current/active TS/SCI Security Clearance.
  • US Citizenship required due to the TS/SCI clearance requirement.
  • Must be able to work on site and 5‑10% travel required.

Skills:
  • Technical Hardware Expertise: Proven experience supporting and troubleshooting wireless/cellular devices, including Apple iPhones, Samsung devices, tablets, and mobile hotspots.
  • OS & Security Management: General knowledge of Apple iOS and Android operating systems.
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM): Familiarity with MDM and Unified Endpoint Management platforms, specifically Microsoft Intune.
  • Provider & Data Management: Skilled in managing mobile data plans, optimizing account services, and coordinating seamlessly with external partners, including DISA and commercial service providers.
  • Documentation & Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills for customer interactions. Highly capable of documenting work performed, including maintenance logs, test results, and incident reports.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Ability to coach and provide guidance to less‑experienced professionals, as well as author Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for devices and applications.
  • Professional Traits: Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, accompanied by a strong work ethic and the ability to perform at a high level while unsupervised.

The likely salary range for this position is $74,800 - $101,200. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
