MQ Administrator + Automation Engineer (Ansible/Terraform)
We are seeking an experienced IBM MQ Administrator with Automation expertise in Ansible and Terraform to manage, support, and automate enterprise messaging infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for IBM MQ administration, platform reliability, infrastructure automation, configuration management, and implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices across distributed environments.
IBM MQ Administration Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM MQ Queue Managers on Linux/Unix and Windows platforms. Create and manage Queue Managers, Queues, Channels, Listeners, Clusters, and Client Connections. Perform MQ migration, patching, and version upgrades. Monitor MQ infrastructure performance, capacity, and availability. Troubleshoot MQ-related issues including channel failures, message backlogs, queue depth issues, and connectivity problems. Configure MQ security using SSL/TLS certificates, CHLAUTH rules, OAM permissions, and authentication mechanisms.
Implement High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and clustering solutions. Support production incidents and participate in on-call rotations.
Automation & Infrastructure as Code Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for IBM MQ deployment, configuration, patching, and operational tasks. Create Terraform modules to provision infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments. Automate provisioning of servers, MQ environments, security policies, and monitoring integrations. Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated MQ deployments and configuration updates. Standardize infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure as Code best practices. Automate health checks, monitoring, reporting, and operational workflows.
Cloud & Dev Ops Integration Support MQ deployments in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Integrate MQ infrastructure with Dev Ops tools and platforms. Work with Kubernetes/Open Shift environments for containerized MQ deployments. Collaborate with application, middleware, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable messaging solutions. Monitoring & Support Configure monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, App Dynamics, Grafana, Prometheus, or IBM Monitoring.
Analyze logs and performance metrics for proactive issue resolution. Ensure system availability, reliability, and compliance with organizational standards. Create operational runbooks and technical documentation.
Required Skills IBM MQ 5+ years of hands-on IBM MQ Administration experience. Strong knowledge of:

Modules State Management Work spaces Provisioning Infrastructure Operating Systems Linux (RHEL preferred) Unix Windows Server Administration Scripting Shell Scripting (Bash) Python (preferred) Power Shell (optional) Dev Ops Tools Git/Git Hub/Git Lab Jenkins/Azure Dev Ops CI/CD Pipelines Docker Kubernetes/Open Shift Monitoring & Logging Splunk Grafana Prometheus ELK Stack App Dynamics/Dynatrace Preferred Qualifications Experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Capital Markets environments. Experience managing mission-critical enterprise messaging platforms.
Knowledge of Kafka or other messaging middleware technologies. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). IBM MQ certification is a plus. Red Hat Open Shift experience preferred. Soft Skills Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and documentation abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced production support environment. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
Relevant IBM MQ, Red Hat, or Cloud certifications are preferred.
