The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is recruiting for Full-time/TERM INFORMATION SECURITY PROGRAM SPECIALIST to work with United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), Center for Command Support, Mac Dill Air Force Base, Florida. The primary purpose of this position is to protect the command from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information considered vital to command mission interests, national defense or national security and implement, and develop, and administer the Information Security Program for a Combatant Command (COCOM).
The employee is under the Chief, Information/Industrial Security and responsible for ensuring all facilities, automated systems, and personnel meet required standards for information protection.
The ideal candidate will have subject matter expert knowledge of information security standards as they relate to the protection of classified information including creation, marking, handling, transportation, safeguarding and destruction. The position is responsible for training headquarters personnel on derivative classification, controlled unclassified information, security management, security procedures and policy, classified courier duties, security container custodian duties, and Original Classification Authority.
The selectee will assist in the creation and management of Security Classification Guides for matters under the purview of HQ USSOCOM. The position manages the headquarters security incident program and assists inquiry and investigation officials. Additionally, the position leads annual information security program self-inspections for the headquarters and may assist the Inspector General on subordinate command inspections as a subject matter expert.

- Serves as information security program specialist executing/enforcing all operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of the program. Formulates USSOCOM program goals, plans, policy implementation guidelines, procedures, and work plans dealing with the development and operation of USSOCOM-wide information security programs and activities and provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate information security personnel. Interprets Department of Defense.
- Makes information protection risk assessments and risk management/mitigation strategies/recommendations based on intelligence-derived threat issues that may require deviations from or synthesis of policies. Use initiative and resourcefulness in researching and implementing new and improved security methods and procedures.
- Incumbent is responsible to ensure the core classified national information protection security disciplines of information are fully covered from a policy and programmed viewpoint to ensure overall information protection requirements meet mission requirements. Analyzes documents and ensure the sensitivity of documents is protected from unauthorized users.
